"We adore Thee O Christ and we praise Thee, because by Thy Holy Cross Thou hast redeemed the world!"

Today (Sept. 14th), the Church Celebrates the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, this feast takes precedence over what would be the Twenty-Fourth Sunday in Ordinary Time. As we focus more on the Cross, take a few minutes to listen to this awesome Matt Maher song "You were on the Cross" (http://youtu.be/0PzvzFk1bQA ) and if possible, find some time today, and everyday to reflect on Christ's most sorrowful passion.

(A Prayer - Written by me ... well most of it was anyway.)
"O my Loving Lord Jesus, I thank you so very much for the sacrifice you made for us upon the Cross and although I, at times struggle at being that holy person you want me to be, mainly because I often seem to slip up and fall into sinful ways. Loving Savior, by your Passion and Death that you suffered upon this Glorious Cross that we venerate and honor today, which as we know led to your Glorious Resurrection, I thank you for defeating sin and death and by your simple act upon the Cross, and providing for us the graces within each of the seven Sacraments that your Holy Church makes available to each of us to obtain so that we might become as holy,as the saints. I love Thee, Jesus, my love. I repent of having offended Thee. Never permit me to offend Thee again. Grant that I may love Thee always and then do with me what Thou wilt. Amen".

Veni, Sancte Spiritus - Come, Holy Ghost,

Sequence for Pentecost Sunday
 "Veni, Sancte Spiritus"

{English | Latin}

Come, Holy Spirit, come! | Veni, Sancte Spíritus,
And from your celestial home | et emítte cǽlitus
Shed a ray of light divine. | lucis tuæ rádium.

Come, Father of the poor! | Veni, pater páuperum,
Come, source of all our store! | Veveni, dator múnerum,
Come, within our bosoms shine. | veni, lumen córdium.

You, of comforters the best; | Consolátor óptime,
You the soul's most welcome guest; | dulcis hospes ánimæ,
Sweet refreshment here below; | dulce refrigérium.

In our labor, rest most sweet; | In labóre réquies,
Grateful coolness in the heat; | in æstu tempéries,
Solace in the midst of woe. | in fletu solátium.

O most blessed Light divine, | O lux beatíssima,
Shine within these hearts of yours, | reple cordis íntima
And our inmost being fill! | tuórum fidélium.

Where you are not, we have naught, | Sine tuo númine,
Nothing good in deed or thought, | nihil est in hómine,
Nothing free from taint of ill. | nihil est innóxium.

Heal our wounds, our strength renew; | Lava quod est sórdidum,
On our dryness pour your dew; | riga quod est áridum,
Wash the stains of guilt away: | sana quod est sáucium.

Bend the stubborn heart and will; | Flecte quod est rígidum,
Melt the frozen, warm the chill; | fove quod est frígidum,
Guide the steps that go astray. | rege quod est dévium.

On the faithful, who adore | Da tuis fidélibus,
And confess you, evermore | in te confidéntibus,
In your sevenfold gift descend; | sacrum septenárium.

Give them virtue's sure reward; | Da virtútis méritum,
Give them your salvation, Lord; | da salútis éxitum,
Give them joys that never end. | da perénne gáudium.

Amen. Alleluia.

Ave Maria gratia plena Dominus tecum.

Happy Mothers Day!

When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple there whom he loved, he said to his mother, “Woman, behold, your son.” Then he said to the disciple, “Behold, your mother.” And from that hour the disciple took her into his home.  (John 19:26-27)

Jesus in this verse of scripture Jesus actually gives us his mother, Mary to be our own mother, and for those who would like to learn more about why he did so, the following link will take you to a link explaining why.

http://bustedhalo.com/questionbox/why-does-jesus-give-his-mother-to-the-beloved-disciple-on-the-cross

The Blessed Virgin Mary is indeed our mother, especially because what Christ had said on the cross.
I think one of the best examples to explain her close relationship with Jesus is very much like the relationship between  sun and the moon.

the sun shines light for all to see in the day and as you can see at night, when the moon is in the sky, the light that makes the moon's appear, is not the moon's light, however it is the light shining over the moon from the sun. Mary will ALWAYS direct us back to Jesus.Hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Tree, Tree, Tree

The Story of the 3 Trees.

My Post today is in the form of a video message I found today about our lives and God's plan for us in it. Yes it maybe a little silly of a story, but the message is clear and simple.

Have a Blessed Lenten season everyone!

Battle of music: St. Aquinas VS. Mr. Schutte

*Disclaimer: Today's blog post is totally of my thoughts and opinions and I have no intention of offending anyone, so please do not feel offended. and PLEASE NO MEAN or RUDE COMMENTS! Thank You!

WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO "CATHOLIC MUSIC" FOR THE MASS!?!?!?!

Growing up in the Catholic faith I have noticed a trend going back to Vatican II.
I'm not a theologian nor am I currently studying it, but from what I have learned is that the official Music of the church is chant.
Yes, I know I said that five letter word and typically many of the "post-Vatican II" Catholic's from my home parish, that I know, seem to cringe at the use of that word (Chant), calling it "old, boring, irrelevant, thrown away, BLA BLA BLA BLA BLA..."

I admit, that there was a time in my life when I thought of these "non-chant-like" songs sung at Mass were indeed better, at least that's what I thought, but after getting "the blinders out of my eyes" and attending another parish where chant is used quite often, I came to realize that although these Contemporary songs are easier to sing to, when they are compared to the traditional Chant, that the Chant always wins, because of it's hidden beauty that can be found in the words.

I FEEL like I could be sick when I go to Mass where they use this 60's & 70's folk songs. Last time I checked, I am NOT a Hippie and it is 2014, oh, and NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH CHANT.

This is what we should be hearing at Mass

NOW YOU DECIDE!!!
