When Jesus saw his motherand the disciple there whom he loved, he said to his mother, “Woman, behold, your son.” Then he said to the disciple, “Behold, your mother.” And from that hour the disciple took her into his home. (John 19:26-27)
Jesus in this verse of scripture Jesus actually gives us his mother, Mary to be our own mother, and for those who would like to learn more about why he did so, the following link will take you to a link explaining why. http://bustedhalo.com/questionbox/why-does-jesus-give-his-mother-to-the-beloved-disciple-on-the-cross
The Blessed Virgin Mary is indeed our mother, especially because what Christ had said on the cross. I think one of the best examples to explain her close relationship with Jesus is very much like the relationship between sun and the moon.
the sun shines light for all to see in the day and as you can see at night, when the moon is in the sky, the light that makes the moon's appear, is not the moon's light, however it is the light shining over the moon from the sun. Mary will ALWAYS direct us back to Jesus.Hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
With the Canonization of Pope John Paul II and Pope John XXIII on Divine Mercy Sunday, Next week, I have decided to post a Vatican Radio clip of John Paul II speaking about Easter.
My Post today is in the form of a video message I found today about our lives and God's plan for us in it. Yes it maybe a little silly of a story, but the message is clear and simple.
*Disclaimer: Today's blog post is totally of my thoughts and opinions and I have no intention of offending anyone, so please do not feel offended. and PLEASE NO MEAN or RUDE COMMENTS! Thank You!
WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO "CATHOLIC MUSIC" FOR THE MASS!?!?!?!
Growing up in the Catholic faith I have noticed a trend going back to Vatican II.
I'm not a theologian nor am I currently studying it, but from what I have learned is that the official Music of the church is chant.
Yes, I know I said that five letter word and typically many of the "post-Vatican II" Catholic's from my home parish, that I know, seem to cringe at the use of that word (Chant), calling it "old, boring, irrelevant, thrown away, BLA BLA BLA BLA BLA..."
I admit, that there was a time in my life when I thought of these "non-chant-like" songs sung at Mass were indeed better, at least that's what I thought, but after getting "the blinders out of my eyes" and attending another parish where chant is used quite often, I came to realize that although these Contemporary songs are easier to sing to, when they are compared to the traditional Chant, that the Chant always wins, because of it's hidden beauty that can be found in the words.
I FEEL like I could be sick when I go to Mass where they use this 60's & 70's folk songs. Last time I checked, I am NOT a Hippie and it is 2014, oh, and NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH CHANT.
Welcome to my new blog!!! I am Dusty, and I am just getting use to this blog thing, so who knows what Catholic content I will post in the future, but anyway lets start off this first blog post with a video relating to what Sunday's Gospel will be about.
In my opinion, I find the following scene from the movie "The Miracle Maker" (from 2000) to be one of the best of the renditions of this scene from the Gospel. sure there may be better ones, but this has to be one of my favorite ones.
