Battle of music: St. Aquinas VS. Mr. Schutte

WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO "CATHOLIC MUSIC" FOR THE MASS!?!?!?!

Growing up in the Catholic faith I have noticed a trend going back to Vatican II.
I'm not a theologian nor am I currently studying it, but from what I have learned is that the official Music of the church is chant.
Yes, I know I said that five letter word and typically many of the "post-Vatican II" Catholic's from my home parish, that I know, seem to cringe at the use of that word (Chant), calling it "old, boring, irrelevant, thrown away, BLA BLA BLA BLA BLA..."

I admit, that there was a time in my life when I thought of these "non-chant-like" songs sung at Mass were indeed better, at least that's what I thought, but after getting "the blinders out of my eyes" and attending another parish where chant is used quite often, I came to realize that although these Contemporary songs are easier to sing to, when they are compared to the traditional Chant, that the Chant always wins, because of it's hidden beauty that can be found in the words.

I FEEL like I could be sick when I go to Mass where they use this 60's & 70's folk songs. Last time I checked, I am NOT a Hippie and it is 2014, oh, and NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH CHANT.

This is what we should be hearing at Mass

NOW YOU DECIDE!!!

"Chant" or "eww"

The Chant style offers more text from the scriptures and sacred texts while the other mainly talks about the people being at the Mass. I really cannot believe songs, (they are not hymns, I call them songs) I can't believe songs like these are sung at Mass today, how sad  :'( I KNOW THERE ARE MUCH BETTER SONGS THAN THIS OUT THERE THAN THESE...!

WHY ARE WE FORCED TO HEAR THIS?

the theme I  get is always self-centered, not God-centered
